I haven't visited LA in 15 years but I still remember that nauseating feeling that everyone around me was on a catwalk. There was no one less than a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10. It was like being on an alien world.

I found an AmEx card on the sidewalk a few weeks ago. I was also afraid that someone would start screaming, "Thief!" I called AmEx right there and had the card canceled. Then I figured someone would walk up at the last minute and be pissed that I'd canceled her card. But nothing happened.

When I got home, my husband asked why I didn't tell the AmEx person that I am also a cardholder--what were they going to do for me? So I felt like a boob. And I wasn't even looking at wads of cash like you were.
